Privacy

Most privacy policies are a list of promises. This one is mostly a list of things this site is not built to do, because a capability that does not exist is worth more than an assurance that it will not be used.

Short version

This policy is written as a list of things the site cannot do, because that is checkable in a way that promises are not. There is no form, no account and no tracker. A call records a ZIP code, the fault, and the number it came from.

Tank and Bowl is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no work, we sell no fixtures, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

What this site cannot do

It cannot take your name, because no page has a field for one. It cannot email you, because it never learns an address. It cannot recognize you on a second visit, because it sets nothing in your browser to recognize you by. It cannot report your reading back to an advertiser, because there is no third-party script on any page to do the reporting.

Every page here is a static file. It arrives the same for everybody and it does not phone home.

What one telephone call does create

The number on this site runs through a routing platform, and that platform holds the number you dialed from, the start time, the duration, and the area the call came from. The area is the working part — it is how the call reaches somebody who covers where you live.

That is the complete list. There is no household record behind it and nothing is appended to it afterwards.

Where it goes and where it stops

To the contractor who answers, and no further. They hear whether the toilet is running, blocked, rocking or leaking at the base, because it determines what they load into the van.

We do not sell contact details, we do not supply them to lists, and we do not pass them to anybody who is not the contractor on your call.

Asking for it to be deleted

Email [email protected] and say which number you called from. We delete the record. We need the number precisely because it is the only thing the record is filed under.

If the dye test pointed at the flapper, that is a part, not a fixture.Worth saying on the call, because it changes what somebody arrives with. We connect you to a contractor covering your area and you are never charged. Toilets head this site, but any plumbing job is welcome.
